E hula mau

Aloha makua!
Well...it's May. I have had a couple of thoughts regarding E hula mau, rehearsals, and hotel reservations. Here they are:

1. What days are we all available to rehearse? It would be best if we can pick a day or two that we all can commit to attend. I know it's hard for working adults, but it will save us stress in the end. Honestly...I'm willing to adjust my schedule to meet the needs of all you parents out there. :o)

2. Do we want to book a block of rooms at the Best Western? If so...we should do that soon.

3. Perhaps we should schedule a makua meeting, where we can discuss matters that apply to us and get questions answered. Perhaps we should meet all of us, figure out what our questions/needs are & then go to Auntie & Uncle from there? Just a thought.

4. I was talking to Carole Glass in class last week about scheduling a makua/craft making/hang out get together. She mentioned Memorial Day weekend. Who's in? (I'll have to check with her again as I am volunteering her house. hee hee)

I think that's it right now. What are all your thoughts?

Love you all!
Heather (hapa this & hapa that) I still want that shirt!

Take notes

Aloha ladies!
I'm not going to be able to make the Halau meeting tonight. Whoever goes, please be sure to either email me at Rmcmanuis@aol.com, or update this page.

It appears that Uncle has selected a song for us, but not sure if it is for Hoike or competition. The song is Kauai Beauty. For the Makua's who competed last year, this is the entry song to Kipu Kai. It's a really slow song. I'm surprised that Uncle has selected this one.

If I can get out early from my event tonight I'll drive out there. If not, thank you in advance. Have a great weekend.

he hawai`i au

if you don't know it, please request it in class. if you've learned it before, now is a good time to start reviewing it. da kumu have decided he hawai`i au will be the big group number closing ho`ike 2008. uncle will usually "medley" it after an upbeat song: best bets are ka uluwehi o ke kai and ho`okipa paka.

just trying to keep everyone informed, in case this info hasn't been mentioned in your class yet....

in case anyone is wondering about the garment bags...

here is a copy of the email i just sent to uncle:

>>>>>

aloha uncle! i stopped by island legends and they are currently out of garment bags. he says his supplier makes both the cheap kind and the heavier kind. he thinks the heavier go for $40-60 depending on the length and that the supplier will probably give you a discount for a bulk order... will even custom make the bags so that it has the halau colors. if you can get an idea of how many will want to order, i can ask what kind of discount he can get. nothing in stock right now, sorry! nina PS. i'll be out of town this weekend, so i won't make it to class. see you next week!
