Halau update
Aloha Makua,
Nothing new to report, except to that it would be great if we could figure out how to keep all of us informed of what's going on at the halau, especially as it pertains to the Makua's.
Will a blog work? Are many of you on Facebook? Can that work? What I don't like about Facebook is that everyone (I mean the world) can see what's going on and I'm not certain I like that. Any thoughts?
I also don't think email works either because we can't send photos etc. S
Anyway, I wish you all a great day! I look forward to seeing you at hula tonight.

halau folder updates...
see the "halau folder" site for new files:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hulamakua/
... including Ka Lehua Punono, Ku`u Pua Mae `Ole, and Makee `Ailana.
reminder - this yahoo site is NOT an official halau site, nor a decent source for halau info. it's only purpose is to have the halau folder available on the web for any haumana who wants to download it.
aloha!

May 19 hula update
Yahoo! Uncle has selected a song for us to dance at E Hula Mau. Its a beautiful song named, Ka Lehua I Milia. If you have the Makua CD it is on that. It's also on the Kalika CD.
If you come Wednesday night, Aunty will be teaching the entire song. We learned the 1st verse tonight.
Aloha all... have a safe weekend.

Makua bonding session
Aloha Makua's!
Thank you to Liz, Abella, Heather, Lorna, Ronelle and Ellen for attending our bonding session at Acapulco.
Thank you also to Nina for typing our agenda for our bonding session tonight.
We mainly brought Lorna, Heather, me, and Ronelle up-to-speed on what's happening for Ho'ike. The big thing is don't forget to buy your minimum tickets, or better yet, sell 10 tickets to friends, family and or people you think would enjoy one heck of a Hula show.
Next, we have several questions that were asked, which we'll be asking of Uncle and Aunty. Feel free to add any othher questions as well.
1. Who or where can dresses be ordered from? We understand the white dresses can be bought from Hilo Hattie, but what about the Purple one?
2. What songs are we dancing at Ho'ike?
3. Should the Makua's buy their own makeup and if so who can we buy them from? Uncle? Lilly?
4. How or what can we do to help with the leimaking?
5. Is call time at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14?
6. As for E Hula Mau, do we know what the competition song is? The Makua's would love to know the song so we can research the meaning of the song and make sure we understand the song. We'd also be interested in learning or assisting, if need be, to pick out flowers, lei's, style of dress or whatever Uncle or Aunty, you think is appropriate. We would just like to help.
7. Is there an entry fee for E Hula Mau? Are the monies being raised going to pay that fee?
8. Are there any other monies that are needed for costumes for Ho'ike?
9. When we know what the song is for E Hula Mau, can we also get an approximate cost for the costumes, leis, flowers?
10. When will the rehearsals be taking place for E Hula Mau? Some of us have very busy summer schedules (with husbands, children, family vacations, work) that we'd love to get our rehearsals on our calendars now.
Any additional information that has been missed, please be sure to post. I've made sure that everyone whose email address I have, are listed as an author. Therefore, you should all be receiving some kind of note that the blog has been updated. If you didn't, please let me know.
Also, please everyone try to collect email addresses from as many Makuas as we can so that we can do our best to keep everyone informed.
Thank you Nina for doing an awesome job emailing everyone with information about the upcoming events for June as well as information for sponsorship of Ho'ike. If you did not receive Nina's email, be sure to let her know. Her email address is diz6869@aol.com.
Aloha everyone... Look forward to receiving your posts and/or comments.
